Action Alert issued over Mississippi textbook labeling bill

American Atheists has issued an Action Alert over the “just a theory” textbook labeling bill proposed in Mississippi.

Any Mississippi residents reading this should (1) be concerned about this, (2) get involved, and (3) stay informed. Mississippi Atheists has numerous posts detailing what you can do to help, as well as reporting the latest news on this important issue.

Come on Mississippi! Reason and Freedom can prevail, but it’s going to take an awful lot of you actually getting involved. Christian or not, atheist or not, you should oppose this legislation and, by extension, the legislators who sponsor and support it. Read the text of the label being proposed: it is flat-wrong, and where not out-and-out wrong it manages to be intentionally misleading. Don’t let the state government lie to your children–in anybody’s name.

Illegitimati Non Carborundum (yeah, I know, but it’s still funny–and applicable).
