Wow: rare snowfall hits New Orleans, Gulf Coast

As usual, most everything shut down… But hey, they don’t get snow very often.

I grew up in South Louisiana.  In seventeen (17) years, I saw snow one time. Mind you, I’m not talking about snow you can build a snowman with.  I’m not talking about snow that closes schools.  I’m not even talking about snow that collects on the ground but melts a few hours later. I’m simply talking about snow you can see falling from the sky. One time in 17 years–that doesn’t exactly scream “hey, let’s buy lots of salt trucks…”

It snowed in South Mississippi this morning. In fact, I can look outside my window and still see snow on the ground. I’m not sure if we’ll get anymore tonight. When everything freezes, things are going to be messy tomorrow morning.
