Many people are taking a hard look at Windows, just not those at Microsoft, at least not those within the Windows group. Randall Stross, writing in the paper of record, makes some observations which are painfully obvious to everyone not working on the Windows team:

EA has announced that they will release a “special edition” of the hugely anticipated game Spore, called Spore Galactic Edition. The Galactic Edition will contain extra goodies and will, apparently, be released along with Spore on September 7, 2008.
