10 Tips for Dealing With James Randi

Wired Magazine Blog article about James Randi and the $1 Million Paranormal Challenge, containing some good advice (e.g., Tip #10 Do have paranormal powers). Recounts the whole “Pear Cable” situation (and contains comments obviously made by sucker-audiophiles who are pissed that they’ve allowed themselves to be bilked out of $7250 for cables that Monster Cable sells for a hundred clams).

Reminds me of an article I read in Guitar Player Magazine (I believe) about twenty years ago, wherein Steve Vai claimed that he could hear the difference between Energizer and Duracell batteries in his effects pedals. That may be and hey, more power to you if you can hear the difference between $7250 cables and ordinary Monster cables, but don’t get pissed when even the company that makes the $7k cables acknowledges (by backing out) that no scientific measurement known to man will demonstrate any difference between the two!
