Statistics only as good as context

People who lose their virginity [...]

Comments   0   Date Arrow  November 30, 2007 at 8:54am   User  by thecodepounder

Dozens of “Hurricane Katrina victims” (more later on why that’s in quotes) still living in FEMA trailer parks will have to find new housing by today as FEMA works to close the temporary facilities it set up after the 2005 storm.
The move is intended to help the hurricane victims move into more stable, permanent housing, [...]

Comments   0   Date Arrow  November 29, 2007 at 2:47pm   User  by thecodepounder

The Green Bay Packers are 7 point underdogs tonight for their game at the Dallas Cowboys. But, I do believe that the Packers will triumph, led by their veteran quarterback–the incomparable Brett Favre.
Go Pack!
[UPDATE: 8:29pm -- Favre is out and Rodgers is playing in his stead.  For all intents and purposes the game is [...]

Comments   0   Date Arrow  November 29, 2007 at 10:17am   User  by thecodepounder

Spanish scientists have unearthed what could be Europe’s largest dinosaur boneyard. The site, near the city of Cuenca in western Spain, was discovered in June during construction work for a new high-speed rail link between Madrid and Valencia.
Oddly, no human remains have been found at the site. Nor have remnants been found of [...]

Packers vs. Cowboys and no one’s watching

Comments   0   Date Arrow  November 29, 2007 at 8:22am   User  by thecodepounder

Another dead-on piece by Mike Celizic takes the NFL to task for putting what is probably the 2nd biggest game of the regular season on its own NFL Network, where almost no one will be able to see it (only about a third of the U.S. homes with televisions get NFL Network). But, there’s [...]

Comments   0   Date Arrow  November 28, 2007 at 1:42pm   User  by thecodepounder

A group called the Business Software Alliance is the latest groups to extort untold $$$ from businesses because of software copying that “undoubtedly” happens in many businesses.
Jeez, I remember when it was copy machines. Twenty years ago (or so) a couple of Texas attorneys lined up a slew of magazine publishers in order to [...]

We’ve all heard the details (what details there are at this point) over the last couple days about Sean Taylor’s untimely death. Among other things, Sean Taylor was young and black and a professional athlete and a relatively new father and a guy who’d had some scrapes and a guy who was getting his [...]

Jermaine Jackson, in a BBC Radio interview on Monday, announced that the Jackson Five (including Michael) would reunite and could begin touring as early as next year.
Not quite as exciting as news of the Led Zeppelin “reunion”, eh?

Ricky Williams is out for the season, after just 6 carries in the Monday Night game against Pittsburgh. Talk about your bad breaks! One game. Dude has played in one game (NFL game, that is) in the last two years.
If dude could just stop “puffin’ the cheeba” as the kids say, he’d [...]
